Sitaara.
Brighten lives.
A student-run non-profit initiative aiming to fight period poverty sustainably.
Who We Are
What we believe in.
We intend to bring Sudhar (betterment) to Soch (mindset) through Seva (selfless giving/action) and secure Sanrakshan (conservation/sustainability) along.
36%
A Number of disparity.
It was appalling for us to learn about the problems facing these menstruaters. This experience ignited our insides to work for their well-being. In India, a mere 36% of menstruaters have access to decent products to tackle something as natural as their period. They use old ragged clothes, leaves, and sometimes even ash. "It's a luxury!" They say. Let's change that.
India is an unusual nation. The fashion in which generations of phones entered India is fascinating. It's very different from the manner it did in the west. Some homes directly went from landlines to touch screens. They never learned what cordless or the infamous brick phones were. Hence, India is an unusual country. Similarly, we intend to bring the switch from ragged clothes to cloth pads. Unlike in the west, without the step-in of plastic products like plastic pads or tampons.
Our plans.
Bringing a necessary change!
Spreading awareness.
We teach menstruators about the importance of menstrual hygiene and provide basic knowledge about the subject.
Ways We Help !
Sitaara is in the business of changing and shaping lives. Our Non-Profit work is aimed at providing a holistic approach to solving one of our society’s biggest challenges, Period Poverty.
Conferring Cloth Pads.
Our prime focus is to equip menstruaters with cloth pads. Period poverty is a prominent problem around the globe! We aim to do our part in trying to combat this.
Breaking Myths!!
Menstruation has a lot of stigmas associated with it. Myths are everywhere. Myths are fought with facts. Thus, we intend to resolve some issues to teach menstruators about their bodies and their menstrual cycles.
Inducing conversations.
Not enough has been said about Period Poverty. We seek to induce conversations and start discussions about these subjects. Thus, misinformation has very little space to seep in. As people get informed, their choices get informed. With more informed decisions taken by individuals, communities evolve.
"Be thankful for what you want, you'll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don't have, you will never, ever have enough."
Oprah Winfrey, someone who inspired us and taught us to be thankful all the time.
